Classification |
Exploratory: Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
|
Rationale/Justification |
QLI-SCI is reasonable to use but limited study in target group currently. This outcome measure has good or excellent psychometric properties and clinical utility in a related population, but not been used with SCI to support higher recommendation.
|
Short Description of Instrument |
37 items (QLI-SCI)
Each item is rated on a scale of 1 (least satisfied/important) to 6 (most satisfied/important)
5 scores of 0-30 (0 = less satisfied, 30 = most satisfied) are calculated:
1. Total Quality of Life score
2. Health and Functioning Subscale
3. Social and Economic Subscale
4. Psychological/Spiritual Subscale
5. Family Subscale
QLI-SCI may be administered by interview or by self-report.
Calculation of score weights satisfaction scores according to level of importance assigned to each item
Administration and scoring instructions can be found at: Ferrans and Powers Quality of Life Index Questionnaires and Scoring Link

Scoring |
It has been noted by the SCI-EDGE task forces comments that the scoring of the instrument is complicated without the use of a computerized scoring system. Computer syntax needed for scoring the QLI-SCI automatically with SPSS-PC is available at the author's website at: Computer Syntax for Scoring the Quality of Life Index-SCI Version
